Sesko Injuries Knee and Drops Man Utd Striker on a One Month Sideline.

Sesko knee injury has come at the most unfortunate moment to Manchester United. With the club building up to a busy winter, new arrival Benjamin Sesko today seems likely to be out without action to the tune of a month after injury to the knee joint during the Premier League draw at Tottenham Hotspur on 8 November. This setback of the striker does not just hurt the attack depth of United but also made the squad arrangements more difficult before the major international events.

To begin with, time of the injury might hardly have been better. Sesko, an arrival at PS74m in August, had been gradually developing into his position under Ruben Amorim after being brought there by United on paying 74m to RB Leipzig. However, he did not complete the game and was obviously weak as he exited the field after joining the game as a second-half substitute against Spurs.

In the beginning, Amorim has confessed that he had no idea how serious the injury was. There were almost immediate assurances by club sources that the Slovenian international had not suffered serious injuries. However, later examinations established that he would be disqualified to play the qualifiers the World Cup in Slovenia and would probably lose an estimated four weeks of domestic matches.

Nevertheless, the loss of Sesko extends the offensive resources of United when Amorim is in most need. His injury is likely to coincide with the away of Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo towards the African Cup of Nations, that begins on 21 December in Morocco.

The fixtures may accumulate rapidly in December, although there is no expectation that Premier League clubs will contract players to leave at the first opportunity available. On 15 December, the United play Bournemouth at Old Trafford one of the number of games that could be too early in the year to bring Sesko back.

Last but not least, a concrete update should be provided to the fans. Amorim will then hold a press conference prior to Monday night Premier League game against Everton at Old Trafford and clarify the recuperation period of Sesko.

Although the first estimate is four weeks, the club is yet to consider the level of the knee problem. The rate at which Sesko would recover will be determined by the response of the treatment in the next 2 weeks. Knee injuries are unpredictable and United will not be in a hurry to rehire a player who is a significant long-term investment.

It is also possible that the manager has to change strategies in the absence of Sesko. His physical weight can provide something that the other members of the forward squad do not provide, and its loss will force the organisation to get creative, either by making system changes or by providing more minutes to younger forwards.

A frustrating blow to Manchester United is the Sesko knee injury that comes at an opportune moment in a season and a busy winter programme coming to the fore Amorim now reads the prospect of negotiating various key games without a fully fit forward line. Although the injury is not serious, its timing makes planning of the squad a bit more difficult than challenging to the depth of United. Everyone will be waiting the next press conference of the manager to give a more open view of the situation, yet at this point, the fanbase must pray that the recovery of Sesko will proceed unproblematic and fast.
