Oscar Piastri Secures Sprint Race Pole at Belgian GP After Thrilling Qualifying

The qualifying session was highly difficult, but the Oscar Piastri set the pole position at the sprint race during the Belgian Grand Prix at Formula 1, showing tremendous strength. After some early misfortune, when his lap time was cancelled after running off track at the Raidillon corner, Piastri did enough to make it through to the final part (SQ3), but only by 0.041 spinning. After an exit in the first qualifying round, he performed a phenomenal lap time of 1m40.510s in the decisive qualifying round, nearly going half a second ahead of Red Bull, driven by championship adversary Max Verstappen. Lando Norris finished a solid performance as a McLaren when he qualified third on the sprint grid, some half second behind Piastri.

Ferrari achieved a fourth place finish through Charles Leclerc, and a move that was a surprise was Haas with Esteban Ocon placing fifth. Williams Carlos Sainz and Haas Oliver Bearman followed the trend and secured sixth and the seventh place, respectively, with Pierre Gasly of Alpine next. Two rising stars, Isack Hadjar and Gabriel Bortoleto also made the top ten, with a number of major names only reaching the second or third rounds.

The second qualifying sector would produce early banker laps by Norris and Piastri, but a decisive lap by Piastr in the second qualifying segment was disallowed because of track limits, providing Verstappen with a short period in the lead, before Norris finished with 1m41.412s. Piastri went to SQ3 with a second attempt only sufficient to keep him in tenth. Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda were knocked out immediately beyond the top ten, with Mercedes driver George Russell conspicuously dropping out, to end up in 13 th positio

Aston Martin failed to get Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll off the bottom grid as both qualified in 14 and 15 respectively, with Bortoleto and Gasly setting the pace in their laps. The fight in SQ1 was a strong one where Piastri was leading initially on the way of Verstappen and Norris by 1m41.769s. Few drivers, such as Lewis Hamilton, who had a difficult qualifying session starting with a spin, followed by being knocked out in 18th, and the young driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli, had difficulties finding pace or position.

A lock-up also cost Hamilton during his second run at the Bus Stop chicane, and although he was able to complete the chicane, the extent of the spin meant he would not be able to get out of the session. Gasly preserved himself in 15 th at the cost of Alex Albon of Williams, and Nico Hulkenberg ended up in 17 th via track position disputes. In the end, the qualification session established an interesting sprint race, as Piastri was at the forefront of an upbeat group, which would be outstanding to express a great stake in the championship fight.
