It was created at an early stage as Jorge Pereyra Diaz opened the score in the seventh minute burying a rebounded ball when Delhi goalkeeper misjudged a low drive. It was then that Mumbai legitimized their total control and dictated pace and taxed the Delhi defense by their cutting interplays.

The star was Vikram Pratap Singh who scored twice with a combination of speed and accuracy. The first was the result of a slick finish with Brandon Fernandes and the second, which occurred in the deepest of stoppage time was a thunderbolt strike, which bang, struck the underside of the bar.
