The Thailand Grand Prix race management display of Marc Marquez convinced Francesco Bagnaia that the eight-time world champion dominated every stage of the event. The factory Ducati replacement Alex Marquez obtained the race lead during a brief period when Marc Marquez reduced speed but Marc Marquez reclaimed his lead position to finish the race with a substantial 1.7-second difference.
Bagnaia proclaimed defeat during the race after he found himself in third position behind Marquez and their brother. Bagnaia admitted he attempted to make a move but it was equivalent to watching a film. Throughout the race Marc purposefully toyed with me and my other racing competitors while I fought to reach their position.During lap 7 Marquez performed an unexpected reduced speed to manage his front tire pressure while obeying the regulations. Circumstances at the front produced excessive front tire pressure which compelled him to sacrifice his position in order to stay below regulation limits.
Bagnaia used this opportunity to reduce the gap between himself and the leaders as the last stages unfolded. Throughout the competition Marquez maintained a solid control of every situation. The moment Marquez selected to start his attack his fast speed became an impossible obstacle to match. The Ducati rider noted how Marquez gained 2.3 seconds through his front wheel throughout his choice of three successive laps. “He was much, much faster.”
The way Marquez handled race control with his speed advantage made Bagnaia recognize opportunities to improve in the next competitions. He acknowledged that he needs to discover Marquez’s techniques which result in these swift changes to narrow the distance between them. He acknowledges that the upcoming two rounds match Marquez’s dominance yet he must reduce his distance to the leader.
Received a respectable third-place finish as recovery from his 2024 season that resulted in losing the championship. He clearly expresses through his actions that pole positions drive his competitive spirit.
