Marta García Secures Fully Funded FRECA Seat for 2024 with F1 Academy Triumph

F1 Academy has just made a groundbreaking announcement. The inaugural season’s champion, Marta García, is set to receive a fully funded seat with PREMA Racing for the 2024 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA). This announcement highlights F1 Academy’s dedication to preparing drivers for higher competition levels and supporting their journey up the single-seater racing ladder.

In a strategic move, F1 Academy emphasizes its commitment to driver progression by collaborating with key players like PREMA Racing, Tatuus, and Pirelli. All parties are contributing financially towards García’s seat, fostering talent and facilitating a seamless transition to higher-tier championships.

Launched in 2021 after the merger of Formula Regional European Championship and Formula Renault Eurocup, FRECA has swiftly become a respected proving ground for young drivers. It serves as a critical step for those aspiring to progress from F4-level series to the prestigious FIA Formula 3 Championship.

In a groundbreaking move, FRECA announces a season-long fourth entry for top teams, granted upon signing a driver finishing in the top three of the F1 Academy standings. This move reflects a shared ambition to promote female participation in the Championship while supporting F1 Academy’s top drivers.

In a bid to create a more accessible entry point for young women, F1 Academy reduces the driver contribution from €150,000 to €100,000 for the 2024 season. This decision aligns with the series’ goal of breaking down barriers faced by female drivers entering the single-seater ladder.

Susie Wolff, Managing Director of F1 Academy, expresses pride in the progress made during the first season. She emphasizes F1 Academy’s dedication to creating opportunities for young women in motorsport and highlights the significant moment of offering a fully funded seat to the inaugural champion.

Rene Rosin, Team Principal at PREMA Racing, lauds Marta García’s approach and professionalism, stating that the collaboration is a testament to F1 Academy’s role in developing and promoting young woman talent in motorsport. The Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine is acknowledged as a challenging yet competitive platform.

The champion herself, Marta García, expresses thrill and excitement about racing in FRECA in the upcoming year. She acknowledges the challenges ahead, emphasizing determination and gratitude towards F1 Academy for the fantastic initiative that provides a pathway for drivers with the best results to reach the top level.

Bruno Famin, VP of Alpine Motorsports, welcomes F1 Academy winners within FRECA, recognizing the Formula Regional European Championship as an essential step in the Road to F1 ladder. This endorsement underlines the commitment to supporting young talent on their journey towards the top of the motorsport world.

As we celebrate Marta García’s achievement and F1 Academy’s forward-thinking initiatives, this announcement signifies a pivotal moment in motorsport. The commitment to accessibility, progression, and female representation sets a positive tone for the future of single-seater racing.
