Carrie Schreiner put on a sensational display at Zandvoort, holding off two title contenders to claim victory in Race 2, marking her first triumph of the season.
Pole-sitter Amna Al Qubaisi made a fantastic start, aiming to secure MP Motorsport’s second win of the weekend. She led the pack after the first lap, with Schreiner close behind. Marta García, eager to rebound from yesterday’s disappointment, swiftly moved up to P3, showcasing her determination.
In the midst of intense battles on the famously tricky-to-overtake track, Léna Bühler of ART Grand Prix made impressive overtakes, steadily advancing through the field. However, tragedy struck for A. Al Qubaisi as she encountered trouble on Lap 2, bringing out the Safety Car and promoting Schreiner to the lead for the restart.
Schreiner tactically controlled the pace before the Safety Car’s withdrawal, creating a gap to García. Jessica Edgar executed a brilliant overtake to snatch P3 from Emely de Heus, adding to the excitement.
As the race unfolded, Schreiner defended her position fiercely, with García relentlessly trying to find a way past. Bühler joined the intense battle, making it a three-way fight for the lead. The final lap saw the entire field separated by just five seconds, setting the stage for a nail-biting finish.
In the end, Schreiner’s unwavering defense secured her and ART Grand Prix a well-deserved victory. García claimed second place, earning crucial points in her title challenge against H. Al Qubaisi. Bühler finished in a commendable P3, adding another podium to her impressive season tally.
The thrilling showdown at Zandvoort showcased the immense talent and determination of the young drivers, promising more exciting races in the season to come.
