Abbi Pulling won the F1 Academy championship a couple of rounds ahead of time, placing second in the first race at Losail. The Alpine junior was on 120 points and required only another 18 points from the last two race weekends to clinch the crown, a dramatic Turn 2 pass on Ferrari’s Maya Weug secured her championship.
From third – her best score of the season – Pulling’s precise move summed up 18 points, which meant no one could overhaul the leader at the top even if Pulling finished behind title rival Doriane Pin. Speaking for the achievement, Pulling stated that ‘anything is possible’ in a season she said had been a grueling one and there for she had no option than to triumph. Money problems have always been a weakness, so getting next year’s prize is something I am very proud of.”
Season, as for Pulling, has been extraordinary consistent. This she accomplished with seven victories and scoring on the podium throughout the campaign although she only finished second or better seven times . Seven pole positions we also confirm her leadership.
Championship victory guarantees Pulling the fully funded GB3 drive with Rodin Motorsport for next year and 20 days of testing for 2025. “It’s a huge relief,” she added. “We’ve never had no winter but mine this time round; Thanks to Alpine, Rodin and my dad I have gotten this far. What I will take with me is hunger, I will take this hunger to the next year.
Pulling’s win shows her as one of motorsport’s up and coming talents, but her current aim is to get as much seat time as she can in the next phase of her career.
