It only took about 12 months of successfully being a part of Gresini Racing in 2024 for Marc Marquez to rediscover the light at the end of the tunnel, calling the season a “rebirth.” After leaving Honda, which had a rather troublesome bike and a serious crash which affected his performance, Marquez agreed to get on board Ducati satellite team. Riding on an older GP23 bike and adapting to a steep learning curve, the Spanish instantly hit form, winning three times and finishing third in the championship.
After leaving Honda, Marquez attributed Gresini’s familiar and close-knit environment as major points are helping him find back form again. Working with the team led by Nadia Padovani was very professional and full of personal contact which reminds Marquez his debut in Moto2. This decentralised working and face-to-face contact were in stark contrast to his Honda experience, and helped him both professionally and as an individual. IG Marquez said that his unique relationship with his brother, Alex Marquez, which made the season special.
The year at Gresini not only rekindle his passion at racing but also set him for a big move in 2025 when he will transfer to Ducati Factory team. When summing up the year on December 20, Marquez focused on satellite teams: ‘The professionalism and competitiveness of the bike that I was able to seize to produce great results.’
Marquez returns to the championship fight in 2025 but expressed his thankfulness to Gresini for helping him in his comeback. That period with the team also taught him about the right environment which may turn a champion into an even greater one stating that the spirit of MotoGP is as critical as everything else when it comes to moving up in the complex world of motorcycle racing.
