The Bahrain Grand Prix roared into the night sky this weekend, leaving fans exhilarated and statisticians scrambling to update the record books. Max Verstappen, the reigning champion, continued his scorching form by securing a dominant victory for Red Bull. But this race was about much more than just Verstappen’s prowess. In a truly historic first, all 20 cars that started the race crossed the checkered flag – an unprecedented feat in Formula 1 history!

Verstappen’s win was nothing short of phenomenal. Not only did he clinch Red Bull’s 114th victory, tying them with Williams for fourth on the all-time win list, but he also extended his personal winning streak to a remarkable eight races. This puts him in the company of F1 legends, boasting two of the top four winning streaks in the past decade!
Verstappen’s dominance wasn’t limited to just winning. He achieved a Grand Slam in Bahrain, leading every single lap, taking pole position, setting the fastest lap, and securing the win. This ties him with racing royalty Alberto Ascari and Michael Schumacher for third all-time, behind only Lewis Hamilton and Jim Clark. Even more impressive, Verstappen becomes the first driver since Michael Schumacher in 2004 to achieve this grand feat in the opening race of the season!
Verstappen’s consistency is equally staggering. He extended his incredible streak of finishing races to a mind-blowing 42 in a row, solidifying his place as the second-longest streak holder in F1 history, right behind Lewis Hamilton. Red Bull continued their winning ways from last year, with Verstappen leading teammate Sergio Perez across the finish line for a commanding one-two finish.
There were signs of a potential new era for Ferrari, with Carlos Sainz putting in a stellar performance to secure a podium finish. This strong showing, coupled with Charles Leclerc’s valuable points haul, suggests a much more competitive Scuderia compared to their sluggish start in 2023.
The rest of the grid offered a kaleidoscope of stories. George Russell and Lewis Hamilton had a role reversal from last year’s Bahrain race, with Russell finishing ahead of his more decorated teammate. McLaren, finally breaking their points drought, saw both Lando Norris and rookie Oscar Piastri secure points, hinting at a promising season ahead. For Fernando Alonso, who dominated the opening races last year, the Bahrain GP proved to be a tougher challenge. Nevertheless, the evergreen racer still managed to score points for Aston Martin, showcasing his unwavering determination.
The Bahrain Grand Prix was a truly remarkable weekend of racing. From record-breaking performances to surprise results and the emergence of new stars, this electrifying night race has set the stage for a thrilling and unpredictable Formula 1 season.
