In 2008, Kimiläinen made her debut in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series, participating for two seasons and concluding the 2009 season in seventh place. Kimiläinen took a break from racing in 2011 but made a triumphant return the following year, competing in the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship (STCC) and earning the title of Rookie of the Year with a third-place finish. She continued to compete in the STCC in 2013 and 2014, achieving a remarkable second-place finish in the latter season.
In 2019, Kimiläinen played a pivotal role as one of the founding drivers of the W Series, an exclusively female single-seater racing championship. She clinched her first victory in the W Series at the Hungaroring in Hungary and finished the season as the runner-up. Despite the cancellation of the 2020 W Series due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Kimiläinen made an exceptional comeback in 2021, securing the championship title and becoming the first Finnish woman to win a single-seater racing championship.
