Max Verstappen sieged his fourth consecutive Formula 1 World Championship in the Las Vegas Grand Prix in fifth place while holding off the close threat of Lando Norris, who came seventh. The Dutch driver was only interested in winning the title, and so he did not overdrive himself as that would be all that was required to keep the young Norris behind him.
On the other hand George Russell was exceptional converting his starting position into a lights to flag victory. Even his Mercedes teammate, Hamilton charged from the 10th position on the starting grid and pressure paid off, but Russell did not wane. It was almost arm wrestling when Hamilton or instead of the undercut applying another strategy and a new set of tyres, was only 7.1 sec behind Russell by the 40 laps into the race but his tyres started degrading, giving Russell a stable lead to clinch his second win of 2024.
Hamilton came second with Carlos Sainz joining the podium in third after holding off his teammate Charles Leclerc. The Ferraris struggled all race after they had a bad time on the medium tires during their first period. At the end of the race both Ferraris got significant tire wear issues and were passed by Verstappen and the Mercedes drivers.
Lando Norris was trying to get closer to Aston’s Martin drivers but was unable to challenge for the top positions, while Oscar Piastri secured the seventh place after a consistent drive. The race was also crucial for Haas as Nico Hulkenberg scored points that gave the team a crucial lead over Alpine in the Constructors’ standings.
The Las Vegas GP was yet again a key moment in Verstappen’s winning streak however, the race was mostly Mercedes Russell and Hamilton .The nail-biting showdown held at Las Vegas.
